Canon EOS 5Ds R Body

I own the 5dIII. Purchased the Rp to get into mirrorless. Pretty steep learning curve getting used to Rp. With the 5dsR added, I get a camera that is super familiar as it is identical to the 5dIII, and is awesome in good light. The III is my old reliable at higher ISO, and the Rp is a great travel camera. 50mp for $1500-now I have all situations covered.

This is my first camera purchase ever. Im just getting into photography, Ive done all my homework and for what I want it has landed me at the Canon 5DS R! I have to say this is truly an amazing camera! This is going to be a camera I can grow and lean on for years to come! Cant wait to see where this takes me!

Great camera for landscape photography. Resolution is excellent and the additional megapixels make cropping and ease without compromising detail.

I use the 5DSR strictly for landscape photography and am very happy with the image sharpness and overall image quality. I typically shoot at ISO 100, so even in very low light (e.g., pre-sunrise) I see no problems with noise. The frame rate is a bit slow for wildlife, but one could get by with it and of course you can crop in more with 50MP, which can be very handy for wildlife. At the current discounted price ($1499) I believe this is a very good value. Maybe not a good choice for low light action shots where a faster shutter speed and higher ISO is required. I could not upload an uncompressed file, so what you see is 3840 on the long side (RAW files are 8688 long side).

In the couple of weeks I have had the 5DSR, I have taken some car pictures to test resolution in a real world situation. Compared to the 20MP 6D I normally use, the 50.6 MP 5DSR is amazing. The files sizes are huge: 15-20 MB JPEG and 65-75 MB RAW files in my usage. No surprises about the large files sizes. As expected, a stable tripod and low wind speed are essential to get maximum resolution pictures.
