Good quality device, seems to work pretty well so far. Chose this over the 3's as i use only the app so the touch screen that comes with the 3's are redundant. Managed to get a good price match due to anacondas 10% price beat guarantee.

Can be a little confusing initially setting up, inviting others to use the app and using the menu options.on the device. However, it does track your location with amazing accuracy in hilly / mountainous areas. Once paired with your mobile it is very easy to send and receive messages but it does 'chew through' your data allowance if you use it when you have other options, such as mobile.

It’s good but turn it off at night to save battery and be sure to check the subscription terms because a lot of stuff like tracking and weather can count towards your monthly allowance and use it up quickly without you realising. You also can’t just increase the subscription for the month, you have to buy the new one which resets the month (I had tier two but should have got tier three as I went over the free message cap quickly but would have ended up having to pay for 6 weeks usage instead of the 1 month I needed. Then I forgot to cancel renewal so ended up paying for 2 months anyway lol) I originally bought a second hand one but the battery wasn’t great and Garmin told me you can’t replace the battery yourself. They only offer a discount to buy a whole new device so I just bought this so it would arrive in time for my trip

Tested 100km offshore fishing and works perfectly. 1-2 minutes to send and receive text if that. From memory you’re limited to 50 words per text, however if you want to send a larger message it rolls into the second. We selected the standard plan which allows for 50 text messages a month, which should be plenty to provide the family back home piece of mind and check weather. Great product.
