an excellent safety device for bushwalking. I love the backtrack feature so you can retrace your route. Texting friends after reaching a campsite gives peace of mind.

Awesome little gadget that I cant wait to use in the outdoors. You do need to sign up to a plan with Garmin which does cost extra.

The unit itself seems to be excellent quality. It provided very accurate location data right throughout a 1200km trip. However, the interfacing to let people know where you are is not intuitive and sketchy in its effectiveness. I am not saying the unit is at x, while locating you at Y. It's just others trying to access the info. There are so many hold your tongue to the left and gaze longingly to the moon in order to perform some functions. The concept of having invitees to save an email with the link in order to access your location is a bit strange. I previously had a spot and this side of it was much simpler and cleaner.
