Kali Protectives Chakra Plus Mtb-helm

Chakra Plus from Green Mountain Sports just outside Denver for $50. In matte black and grey, hence the slight price increase, not that much of a supply. Extremely well fitted, easy rear wheel adjustment. The guys at a different bike shop mentioned it looked good (and ironically matched the 2017 Scott Aspect 940 I bought).

Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that this does its job when one needs it to. Started a bike trip Labor Day Monday 2016 and got about 5 minutes into it before I crashed (HARD!) on an asphalt pathway. My head bounced hard (although the road rash and sprained shoulder took my mind off of my head.) Without a helmet, I would have split my head wide open and have ground my skin down to the skull. There is no doubt about it. This helmet WORKS! I believe the netting inside (while remaining snug on your head but allowing space [to float] between the netting and the outer shell) plays a significant role in the helmet's success. Too bad, it was a brand new helmet, too! Oh well, a $50.00 helmet is way cheaper than a neurologist, right? Thankfully, I am healthy enough again to get back on my bike and need a new one. Do yourself a favor and buy this.

Picked this up for 12 bucks from Pricepoint right before they closed. Light helmet with good ventilation, but the size adjustment dial will not stay in place. I find myself having to tighten it several times each ride. For 12 dollars, it's fine, but I'll spend more to get a better quality helmet next time. UPDATE: I contacted Kali directly about the issue I was having with the dial on their helmet and they immediately sent me a replacement along with a shipping slip to send the other one back. At first it was great, but after about a month and a half's worth of rides I'm having the same problem with the dial not staying in place. A+ for customer service, D for product quality.

Be CAREFUL with sizing. My head is around 21 inches circumference and I bought the S/M on sale, hoping it'll be small enough however, even at the smallest setting (the ratchet has a limit,) the helmet still feels a loose and honestly, looks big on my head. If your head is my size, i suggest the smaller version. The build of the helmet seems fine and the padding fine. No spare/extra padding comes with the helmet. * The bug mesh is part of the padding inside and given that it is pressed millimeters away from your head, provides almost no protection against stinging insects. It also has space for bugs to pass from the front of the helmet, past the mesh, to your skull at the back.

Nice helmet however size measurements are incorrect. had to return it for the x-small, if purchased I would recommend 1 size smaller
